To highlight the importance of October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Zonta Club of Fenton hosted a community-wide awareness rally on Tuesday September 29, 2015 The rally took place at FirstMerit Bank located at 226 W. Caroline St.

Anne Kita, Crisis Counselor Coordinator, from the YWCA’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services and, Pastor Mark Burnett, from the Potter’s Wheel Church in Fenton, addressed the rally with statistics of domestic violence and human trafficking in genes county in the past year.

Rally supporters placed 649 flags on the lawn in recognition of the number of domestic violence cases Genesee County from January 2014 to September 2016.

Approximately 75 people showed up to support the Rally! It was a very powerful event and it raised a lot of awareness for the community. This event will be a yearly event for the Zonta Club of Fenton.
